안녕하세요. (Annyeonghaseyo) = Hello. / Hi. / How are you? / Good afternoon. / Good evening. Etc.

= Ka musta po? / Hi po / Hello po etc.

Koreans greet each other by saying "Annyeonghaseyo (안녕하세요)", and it is the most common way of greeting someone in Korean.

Break down of words:

안녕 = well-being, peace, health

하세요 = you do, do you?, please do

안녕하세요 is the polite/formal form.

You use this when you are younger or if you’re not close with that other person.

안녕 is the non-polite form.

You use this when you are older or you are close friends with the other person.

This is the same with the Filipino culture.

“po” and "Opo" in every word we used when we say Hi, hello or greet other people that is older than us

We say: Hi po, or Hello po.

Gesture:

You greet the other person Annyeonghaseyo (안녕하세요)

with a slightly nod on your head while the person is around the same age as you.

And If the person you are talking to is much older, then you should nod your head more bigger or a bow gesture should be used.

Conversation sample:

Person A: 안녕하세요.

Person B: 안녕하세요

Please take note. It is read as : An nyeong Ha se yo and not Anongsayo.

The pronunciation may be close to our Tagalog language anong sayo?.

But please its totally different. peace!! ;)
